Humanity was blessed with the ability to feel emotions, although we may feel at times that it’s a curse as well. In every moment, we experience emotions and we’re faced with choices on how we respond to our emotions. For example, we can attempt to suppress them, be ruled by them, allow them to guide us, or just sit and wait them out.
Regardless of how we respond, we all have emotions and the ability to recognize them. If you’re like me, I grew up suppressing my emotions to a point where I no longer could identify them. Eventually, I distanced myself from emotional connections with others, became guarded by negativity, frustration, and anger. Basically, I stopped seeing people and I was going through life with a very short fuse.

We often enjoy that cold and refreshing glass of water, especially during the summer. That same water could boil and scold us with immediate pain. Yet, we’ve learned how to use the boiling water that can be safe and pleasing to us. Water is also used to wash the dirt away. We can enjoy swimming in it and can also die drowning in it.
Life can be viewed from this perspective as well. It’s all around us and it doesn’t stop moving when we do. So much joy can be found in life, along with so much pain as well.
We all find ourselves interacting with life in various ways. You may feel like a sitting rock as life flows all around you like a swiftly moving river. Or, you feel as if life is standing still, like a lake on a peaceful early morning. I’m sure some of you may feel like life is very aggressive and wild like the stormy sea. Or, falling down all around you like the rain.
